Endorser Code of Conduct Data Centre Efficiency
EU-COMMISSION ACKNOWLEDGES MANSYSTEMS AS ENDORSER OF THE EUROPEAN CODE OF CONDUCT FOR DATA CENTRES
Mansystems achieves status as endorser of the European Code of Conduct for Data Centres
Barneveld, March 30 2009 - Mansystems, the European service & governance management specialist has become endorser of the European Code of Conduct for Data Centres and achieves with this a recognition within Europe as data center efficiency specialist. The code of conduct is an initiative by the European Commission which was developed, to inform and stimulate data center operators and owners to reduce their energy usage in a cost effective way. The Dutch company Mansystems wants to expand their leadership role in the area of best practices within the European Union.
Data center efficiency is currently a hot topic. A constantly growing energy bill and with that the connected CO2 emissions as result of the enormous growth in the demand for IT capacity, are responsible for the fact that data centers need to reconsider their way of working. The problem of high power usage becomes more and more a social issue. It is estimated that 2% of the worldwide CO2 emissions go to the account of IT (source: Gartner).
Mansystems developed a solution to this problem, the FastTrack analysis. The analysis creates insight on potential cost savings and how the organization can follow European guidelines for energy efficient data center.
“Emissions of one server within a data center can be compared to the CO2 emissions of an SUV. These considerable volumes of CO2 emissions are a growing problem, due to the increasing need for data storage. With our analysis and the solutions, we hope to support companies in a socially responsible way, to manage the energy spending, as well as CO2 emissions, in a most efficient way”, says Ronald Hobma, VP Sales Mansystems.
Mansystems created a holistic approach to improve efficiency on the complete IT chain of an organization. This approach is based on recommendations from the European Commission and completed with the knowledge and experience of Mansystems. The data center efficiency service delivered by Mansystems sets its focus on the optimized application of staff and resources which help realize cost savings of up to 50%.
Mansystems has more than 15 years of experience in developing, implementing and operation of service management processes and tooling. “Because of our long-standing and close involvement with various customers we discovered the immense need to expand the traditional approach to IT-service management, with the underlying IT and data centre infrastructure. The rising (energy) costs and the ever growing demand for IT-capacity in combination with the disproportional access to qualified staff, calls for a factory approach, which can be recognized in our consultancy solution called FastTrack analysis”, so said Ronald Hobma, VP Sales Mansystems.
