12.00 Parallel session A: The Open Data Center Measure of Efficiency; an 'Opensource' initiative to reach a definitive "performance-standard" for data centers.
There is a great need in the European Union, the Dutch Government, local climate initiatives and environmental services to create a clear and generally accepted "performance-standard" to measure the energy consumption of data centers.
During his presentation Dirk Harryvan CIO, Mansystems will discuss the following theses:
- Existing performance standards such as DCiE, PUE and EUE are not sufficient because they actually only display the facility-related energy consumption but do not inform about how (energy) efficient a data center is really operating.
- The industry (data center) has to commit to their responsibility to develop their own performance standard, so that it becomes supported by the vast majority and achieves general acceptance.
