Hackathon ‘Better After Breast Cancer’
Netherlands – January 10, 2018 – Kick Off! Mansystems and Better After Breast Cancer kicked off the E-health Week 2018 last weekend with a 24h Hackathon. Fifteen builders, designers, coaches and women who have been treated for breast cancer have designed an app in 24 hours to make the period after breast cancer easier.
#Take Action Together
The app has been developed for younger women who have been treated for breast cancer. The initiative arose because research shows that supervision is desirable, but that the current supply does not always match the needs of younger women. As a result, they continue to wrestle unnecessarily long after the process. Arnold Zwart, CEO and co-founder of Mansystems: “I am very involved in Better After Breast Cancer’s ambition to improve aftercare for young women after breast cancer, so we have taken the initiative to jointly organize a hackathon during the E- Health Week. “The event was and can be followed via #takeactiontogether.
Mansystems organizes a hacketon on request by a customer under the heading ‘app-in-a-day’ around a specific issue of an organization or market. This initiative arose from our experience that a hackathon is a good way to generate and realize innovative ideas in a prototype of an app in a short time. We do this by compiling multi-disciplinary teams with both employees of the client and our own organization.
If you as an organization have innovative ideas or challenging issues where apps could play a role, then you can register via: www.app-in-a-day.com.
The presentation of the concept app will take place on Friday 26 January during the ICT & Health Conference in the Beatrixhal in Utrecht Jaarbeurs. You are cordially invited to attend the Kick OFF. In stand 24 of Mansystems the developers are present to give text and explanation.
The app for young women after breast cancer is there! Next step is to get sufficient funding to actually test the concept app.
