How Zurich Insurance Company accelerates the release of applications with Mendix ATS.

Zurich Insurance Company- a global corporation active in over 170 countries, with about 55,000 employees- is a loyal Mendix customer that has heavily utilized the Mendix Application Test Suite. The Mendix Application Test Suite has helped the originally Swiss company perform automatic testing of their Mendix application.

In this video, Barrington Clarke, DevOps Lead at Zurich Insurance Company, speaks about his experiences with Mendix ATS in his development process.

"When I look back, I think we should have used the Mendix Application Test Suite (ATS) much earlier. From the moment we began using the test suite, we performed a regression test with each application deployment. It was truly liberating for our development team, a burden fell from our shoulders."

“When we started developing our Terrorism Data Capture application, we did not have enough knowledge to use the automated test suite, which is integrated with Mendix,” says Clarke. “When I look back, I think we should have used the Mendix Application Test Suite (ATS) much earlier. From the moment we began using the test suite, we performed a regression test with each application deployment. It was truly liberating for our development team, a burden fell from our shoulders.”

The development team at Zurich Insurance Company was thus relieved of the labor-intensive manual test processes and can now implement changes in the application with complete confidence. The moment they release the app to the users, it has already been tested extensively with ATS.

Clarke also spoke on how the Mendix Application Test Suite (ATS) saved his team countless hours while boosting the self-confidence of the team and business as a whole. Zurich has now integrated the use of the automatic testing suite into their application governance process. Once the automatic execution of regression tests have taken place, following approval, applications are deployed into production.
